UNHCR lauds Iran's support for refugees

Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA - - United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres on Sunday lauded Iran's efforts to support refugees and said Iranian officials have pleged to continue supporting foreign refugees. He made the remarks in a joint press conference with Deputy Interior Minister for Political and Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi in Tehran. Guterres described his meetings with Iranian officials as positive and effective and said Iranian officials' firm determination to suport refugees has encouraged him to follow up the refugees case more decisively. He praised Iran for its hospitality towards refugees as well as health and educationl services to them and said UNHCR has some plans to reinforce educational services to foreign refugees in Iran.
