UNICEF: More Than Two Millions And A Half Of Iraqi Children Affected By The Ongoing Fighting

BAGHDAD / NINA / The UNICEF considered the 2014 a devastating year for children in the world, especially Iraqis. The organization's executive director, Anthony Lake, according to a statement for the organization said that nearly 2.7 million children in Iraq have been affected by the conflict and it is believed that 700 children have at least maimed, or killed or executed this year, where many children were killed as they were studying in classes or sleeping and others were subjected for kidnapping, torture, rape and recruitment even sold into slavery. The statement noted that there are 230 million children live in hot countries and regions affected by armed conflict in the world. The organization pointed to more than 7 million children affected in Iraq and Syria, because of the consequences of the armed conflicts in the two countries, and said in a statement in 14th of the last month, it has distributed clothing for winter and necessary materials to million children exposed to the risk of cold. The organization drew attention to the effects of armed conflict in Iraq and Syria to the kids during the current year, saying the conflicts in Syria and Iraq are affecting the lives of more than 7 million children currently compared to about 5.6 million children last year, stressing the urgent need for more aid and donations to protect these children from the risk of winter weather and its coldness. / End
