Upin And Ipin Takes Malaysian Brands To International Level

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Upin and Ipin the Musical is hoped to promote Malaysian brands to the international level, Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Maglin Dennis D'Cruz said. Maglin said this was because the animated show, which is also popular in Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei, had become a Malaysian icon as it showcased the names, culture and stories of the Malaysian people. "The are multi-racial characters in Upin and Ipin such as Opah, Kak Ros, Ehsan, Jarjit, Mei Mei, Susanti and Rajoo. So, this Malaysian brand must be promoted across the world," he said at the soft-launch of the Upin and Ipin the Musical at Cultural Palace (Istana Budaya) here Thursday. The musical, to be directed by Zaifri Husin, will be performed in English language for 23 days from April 14 to May 6. "I believe this is a new benchmark for the local theatre industry," Maglin said. While lauding the efforts taken by Les' Copaque Production Sdn Bhd and CTRA Production to produce the musical, Maglin also hoped that the production team would try to explore new markets like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. Tickets for the musical are priced at RM36, RM56, RM86, RM106, RM206, RM256, RM356 and RM456 and can be purchased at Istana Budaya or online at www.ticket2u.biz. (photoBERNAMA) MALAYSIA
