Urgent meeting held with Thai airlines, operating flights to Japan

BANGKOK, April 13 (TNA) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to inform all Thai-registered airlines of Japanese air transport standards to prevent flight problems. Meanwhile, Asian Air resumes its service today. Deputy government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Gen Prayut ordered the DCA to hold an urgent meeting with representatives of all Thai-registered airlines that operated flights to Japan to prevent the technical problems that barred the flights of two airlines from entering Japan. Although the problems happened to only two flights, the prime minister did not want the issues to recur because that significantly affected many people's travel plans and sentiment. Careful operational plans and understanding on relevant regulations should help avoid the problems, Maj Gen Sansern said. Deputy Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith convened the meeting with airline operators today to explain regulations and problems to ensure smooth flight services to Japan. The Japan Civil Aviation Bureau already permitted Asian Air to resume its services today. (TNA)
