US acknowledges longstanding ties with Thailand

BANGKOK, November 11 (TNA) - New US Ambassador to Thailand Glyn Davies says that the United States has always acknowledged longstanding and friendly relations with Thailand. Davies made the remarks at a party he hosted in Bangkok on November 10 to introduce himself as the new US top envoy to Thailand. Davies said he and his wife have visited various places in Thailand over the past seven weeks and found out that Thai people are strong and love their nation, freedom and peace. The new US ambassador wished Thailand to be a strong nation, noting that he has realized the Thai Kingdom has potential in the global arena. The US top envoy stressed Washington has always known that Thailand is friendly and both countries have cooperated on sciences, health and human trafficking suppression. The US top envoy also expressed his hope that democracy would return to Thailand within a year. Guests at Tuesday's party included Thailand's Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office ML Panadda Diskul, National Legislative Assembly President Pornphet Wichitcholchai, former foreign minister Surakiart Sathirathai and Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, as well as international business operators, academics and representatives of Thai political parties.
