US Drone Strike Kills 3 In Pakistan’s Tribal Region

Islamabad, Sept 30, IRNA – US unmanned drones Monday fired missiles on a house in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region and killed three people and injured one. Security sources said that four unmanned aircraft flew over the area and hit the compound in North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan. It was the second consecutive drone attack in the same region in two days. On Sunday US spy aircraft killed four people in North Waziristan when missiles struck a house near Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan, tribesmen said. Pakistan condemned the Sunday’s American strike and said these attacks badly affect bilateral relations. “The Government of Pakistan strongly condemned the US drone strikes. These unilateral strikes are violation of Pakistans sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a Foreign Ministry statement said, underlining the need for bringing an immediate end to the drone strikes. The Monday’s strike was third in the same region in less than ten days. Six people were killed in a US drone strike on September 22. Earlier at least four people were killed when a US drone targeted a house with missiles in North Waziristan on August 31. The latest strike was carried out just days after Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the American drone strikes in his speech at the UN General Assembly and urged the US to stop the attacks./end
