US Embassy Built On Palestinians' Blood

JAKARTA, May 16 (Antara) - Donald Trump fulfilled a lust which he declared on December 6, 2017 to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. On Monday (May 14) at Palestinian time, the US government inaugurated its embassy in one of the holy cities of Islam, Al Quds Ash Sharif (Jerusalem) which is claimed to be the capital of the Israel colonialist, where Bayt Al Maqdis or Masjid Al Aqsa belongs to Muslims is located. The time of the inauguration coincides with the Nakba Day which is always remembered by the Palestinians as the Day of Catastrophe because it was Israeli occupiers committed ethnic cleansing in at least 418 villages and expelled more than 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland during the 1948 Arab war to the present. According to the leader of Egypt's Al Azhar Mosque, Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb, the time to inaugurate the US embassy in Al Quds shows the arrogance of the US as it ignores justice and human rights. Therefore, the move of the embassy is actually distancing people who live in Palestine from stability and peace, Sheikh Al Tayeb, who is the highest religious authority in Egypt and the leader of one of the world's most prominent campus in the Sunni Muslim learning, stated. And hence, Trump's message saying that the US remains fully committed to facilitating a lasting peace agreement becomes a fictitious and unworthy words to anyone. Moreover with the statement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the inauguration, who said, "Remember this moment, this is history. We have no better friends in the world, you stand for Israel, and you stand for Jerusalem ... President Trump, by recognising history, you have made history ... We are in Jerusalem, and we are here to stay." In fact, most countries in the world have decided the status of Al Quds as a holy city for Muslims, Christians and Jews, and therefore the dispute in the region must be settled in peace negotiations. However, the talks aimed at finding the settlement of the dispute have been frozen since 2014 following violations by Israel, one of which is by constructing illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories and the expulsion of Palestinians from their homes by Israeli soldiers. Thus, the opening of the US embassy in Al-Quds clearly undermines all the peace efforts in Palestine, and the US can no longer be trusted as a mediator for all negotiations and talks. For the Palestinians themselves, the US action is a provocation and a real violation of international laws. They decided the US would no longer qualify as a sole mediator in peace process between Palestine and Israel, and called for an international mechanism to oversee the talks. Sheikh Al Tayeb asserted that the move of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Al-Quds offend the feelings of 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide. He also called on all people and civil institutions to take peaceful actions to express a rejection of the states which stance on the side of the Zionist group. Palestinians' Blood The rejection and condemnation have been demonstrated by the Indonesian people who on Friday (May 11) gathered at the National Monument (Monas) Square Jakarta to participate in the action called "Indonesia Sets Free Bayt Al Maqdis from Israeli Occupation". The Chairman of the Indonesian Coalition for the Freedom of Bayt Al Maqdis, Bachtiar Nasir, stressed that the action is a mandate of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. "On behalf of the people of Indonesia, we demand [US President Donald] Trump not arbitrarily take action over Palestine, and pay attention to the sense of world justice, and maintain world peace. We have a mandate in the 1945 Constitution that colonisation should be abolished because it is not in accordance with humanity and justice," he stated. The rally by the Indonesian people was coincided with the 7th Friday of the Great Return March held by Palestinians since March 30, 2018 along the Gaza Strip bordering the Palestinian territories that have been annexed by Israel Zionists. The march, which was participated by at least 10,000 Palestinians every Friday, was followed with the "One Million Palestinian Parade" on Monday (May 14) against to protest the move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In confronting the Palestinians who only have rocks and slingshots, the Israeli military has become increasingly rage that rapidly turned the Gaza Trip into bloodshed. Israeli active bullets and chemical weapons killed at least 43 Palestinians in just one day, which is the worst since the march was held six weeks ago. A Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman said the death toll included six children under the age of 18. Health officials added that 900 Palestinians were wounded, and about 450 of them were in critical condition due to being hit by live ammunition. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reported that 90 Palestinians were killed and 10,500 were injured since the Great Return March was held. Instead of backing down and surrendering, tens of thousands of Palestinians moved towards the coastline of the border area, while others approached the guardrail built by Israeli soldiers. A number of Palestinians keep burning tires to block the Israeli snipers¿ slight while hurling stones towards them. "Today is a big day when we are going to pass a fence and tell Israel and the world that we will not accept to be ruled forever," a Gaza science teacher, Ali, said. The US embassy may stand on the annexed Palestinian lands, but for now and forever it is only a "memorial" that shows the inferiority of the United States as it supports colonialism, ignores humanity, and deceives the world with its commitments to support peace.
