US Envoy Meet's Jokowi For Coopeeration Effort

Jakarta, Jan 9 (ANTARA) - United States Ambassador to Indonesia Scot Marciel met with Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, for a cooperation effort in various fields. "During the meeting I congratulated Jokowi on his election as Jakarta governor. I hope we can cooperate in various fields," Marciel said in the company of the governor on Wednesday. The US envoy said that during the meeting they also mentioned the renovation of US Embassy building in Jakarta, but they did not discuss it more deeply. "We briefly alluded to the renovation of embassy building that will start soon, but that is not my main purpose of meeting with the Jakarta governor," Marciel noted. Further, he added that they discussed particular areas that would be part of the cooperation between the US Embassy and the government of Jakarta province. Referring to environmental issue, Marciel said the US Embassy has cooperated with Jakarta provincial government to overcome pollution in the capital city. According to him, the embassy staff members will later meet their partners at Jakarta governor`s office to discuss what more cooperation will be carried out. For Marciel, Jokowi is a governor who has a lot of ideas to develop Jakarta. Therefore, he said he wanted to meet again with the Jakarta governor to discuss other issues, but he thought it was rather difficult because Jokowi was very busy. "I hope I can meet Jokowi again from time to time but we know he is very busy," Marciel said.
