US repeats baseless claims at Hague against Iran

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – US attorneys at the International Court of Justice (The Hague) repeatedly reiterated the US government's allegations of Iran's support for terrorism. In the morning session, the first day of the Hague Court hearing Monday to investigate Iran's lawsuit against the US seizure of $2 billion Iran's assets, US lawyers rejected Washington's violations of the treaty of friendship accusing Iran of abusing the court. The US lawmakers at today's meeting also reiterated Washington's alleged claims of Iran's involvement in the explosion of the US military headquarters in Beirut in 1983, claiming that Iran is a Lebanese Hezbollah financier. At the meeting this morning, the Hague-based court, which dealt the claims of US lawyers, considered the United States said Iran was not qualified to file a lawsuit against the seizure of its assets in the United States. American lawyers also said the seizure of the property of the Iranian Central Bank in the United States for what 'claimed compensation for damages of the US soldiers who were killed in Lebanon' as justifiable. On June 15, 2016, the Islamic Republic of Iran filed a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the dispute regarding the violations by the United States government of the treaty of amity, economic relations and consular rights between Iran and the United States, signed on August 15, 1955, by both parties and has been binding on June 16, 1957. Iran's lawsuit states, 'The United States has adopted a number of legislative and administrative measures that have an impact on the interests and assets of Iran and Iranian institutions, Including the Central Bank of Iran, with the view that Iran is a supporter of terrorism (a position strongly rebutted by Iran) and contrary to the treaty of friendship and through the implementation of judicial proceedings against Iran.'
