US, Thailand to continue working together for public interest

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - The United States will continue to work with Thailand for the further development of the quality of life of both the American and Thai people. Outgoing US Ambassador to Thailand Glyn T. Davies, who is scheduled to leave Bangkok later this month after the end of his tenure, made the remarks while paying a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha at Bangkok's Government House on Wednesday to bid farewell to the Thai leader and people. "Today, I talked with the Thai prime minister on many issues concerning longstanding bilateral relations between Bangkok and Washington, including those on joint missions to be carried on towards the future to further develop the quality of life of both the Thai and American people", the outgoing US top envoy told journalists after his meeting with the Thai premier. The outgoing US ambassador also thanked the Thai people for always being good friends of the United States and expressed his appreciation to the significant role of the Thai mass media in disseminating news and information to the public. "I talked to the Thai prime minister as well that the United States would like to see Thailand return to the democratic rule with a new elected government and people's freedom of expressions for the sake of the further national development and prosperity, said the outgoing US top envoy.
