US University delegation visits GPIC

Manama, May 19 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) hosted a delegation from the University of West Virginia, headed by Vice President of International Studies Dr. David Stewart. The visit of the delegation was aimed at exploring ways of enhancing cooperation with the Company. The delegation was received by GPIC Plants Operations Manager, Yasser Al Abassi and other members of the Executive Management. Al Abbasi conveyed to them the greetings of GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and expressed a desire to cooperate with the University, especially in areas related to teaching its successful experiences in the field of engineering and management. The two sides agreed to the exchange of knowledge and discussed means of enhancing and developing existing cooperation as well as the possibility of involving several of Bahrain’s educational institutions in joint programmes. Dr. Stewart expressed his admiration for the Company’s outstanding achievements at various levels and noted its active participation in various activities that support its vision of corporate social responsibility and its efforts to support the environment. He said the visit enabled him and the delegation to learn more about the important roles played by GPIC in the petrochemical industry as well as its other roles that contributed to its success and excellence. He wished the Company success, hoping the partnership and cooperation would continue. The delegation toured the Company's plants, facilities and environmental projects and reviewed the training programmes and activities offered by the Learning and Leadership Academy and the e-learning centre and their contribution to the continuing education of employees. It also learnt about GPIC’s role in providing practical training programmes for University students and higher academic institutions. The University of West Virginia is a strategic partner of the Royal University for Women and offers training courses and workshops in Bahrain.
