USAID holds first green-Y summit in Bangkok

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) Thai university students and industry professions joined the activities and discussion on climate change held by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Development Mission for Asia and its partners on Saturday. The USAID hosted the first green-Y summit, entitled ‘Convening Green Minds: A Conversation about Climate’ at the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok. The event is aimed to be a platform for lively discussion and to give opportunity for industry professionals and students interested in climate change to meet and listen to useful discussion and presentation with short videos, interview and other entertainment. Keynote speakers include Jude Defensor, a dynamic entrepreneur from the Philippines, who gave presentation on ‘ Incubating technology start-ups that address climate change causes or effects’ and Assoc Prof Dr Seree Supratid, Thailand’s renowned expert on natural disasters and the newly appointed Governor of the Provincial Waterworks Authority of Thailand. University students submitted two –minute video presentations of their ideas in how to help fight climate change. The top three winners received awards 100,000 baht, 50,000baht and 25,000 baht, respectively to make their ideas come to life. (TNA)
