Uzbekistan modernizes gas processing plant in south

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, May 9 By Demir Azizov- Trend: Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company will start implementing the project worth $ 220 million to further modernize the Mubarek gas processing plant (Kashkadarya region, south of Uzbekistan) in the fourth quarter of this year, a source in the National Holding Company told Trend on May 9. The phased construction of the eighth stage of gas desulfurization of three universal blocks, namely, 19th, 20th and 21st, with a total capacity of six billion cubic meters per year is envisaged as part of the project, the representative said. The project is planned to be financed through Uzbekneftegaz's own funds to the amount of $ 170 million and the Uzbek Reconstruction and Development Fund's loan worth $ 50 million. It was previously reported, Uzbekneftegaz completed the construction of the seventh stage of gas desulfurization in July 2013 as part of 16th, 17th and 18th universal blocks with a total capacity of six billion cubic meters per year. The 18th block was commissioned in the third quarter of 2012, while the remaining two blocks in the first half of 2013. Uzbekneftegaz's facilities were the contractors for the construction worth $171.8 million. The project was financed through Uzbekneftegaz's own funds. The Mubarek Gas Processing Plant was commissioned in 1971. Currently, the capacity is about 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas and more than 570,000 tons of gas condensate per year.
