Valentine's activities held in several Thai areas

BANGKOK, February 13 (TNA) - Like others worldwide, several areas in Thailand actively organise different activities to celebrate the yearly "Day of Love, St. Valentine's Day 2015, which falls on February 14. In Trang Province in the Thai South, for example, the local public and private sectors have jointly organised a parade of long drums and garlands to welcome international couples participating in this year's Under the Sea Marriage Ceremony, the 19th of its kind and one of the province's most popular Valentine's activities, set from February 12-14. A total of 25 couples join in Trang's Under the Sea Marriage Ceremony this year, three of them are from China, India and France, while the rest are Thais. In Maha Sarakham Province in the Thai Northeast, or the Isan region, a wedding ceremony in the middle of a red lotus field, named Huay Wang Hi, is organised in Pi Pathum District to celebrate the Valentine's Day 2015 and to promote local tourism. In Tak Province in the Thai North, roses are among the best sellers, especially in Pob Phra District, the largest growing and exporting hub of the flower in the region, where 40,000-50,000 roses have been sold daily since early this month, priced at least 10 baht each now. However, a latest survey conducted by the Bangkok-based National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) found that only 6.56 per cent of 1,250 respondents who are teenagers and youths randomly interviewed nationwide, aged no older than 25 years, highly paid attention to the Valentine's Day.
