Various provinces remain on flood alert

NAKHON SAWAN, Sept 25 (TNA) - Flood situation continues in the central province of Nakhon Sawan with vast areas of farmland and residential areas being submerged as water level in the major rivers of the region has increased. People living in Nakhon Sawan province is now on alert as water runoff from Pichit and Kamphaeng Phet is arriving. It causes water level in Yom River, Nan River, Ping River and Chao Phraya River to increase. Water is overflowing the river banks, causing damaged on the vast rice fields in Chumsang district and Muang district in downstream province of Nakhon Sawan. Rice fields, cassava and sugarcane farms in Ladyao District are under water, forcing farmers to collect their agricultural products ahead of the harvest time. In Pathumthani, adjacent to Bangkok, two water pumping stations hurriedly divert water from canals into the Chao Phraya River to be prepared for upcoming floodwater from the North. (TNA)
