Victims of building collapse near Bangkok remain in hospitals

PATHUM THANI, THAILAND, August 13 (TNA) - Injured victims of a building collapse in Bangkok's neighbouring Pathum Thani Province on August 11 remain in hospitals, with the official death toll now standing at three. Dr. Narong Tangtrongpairote, Pathum Thani's public health chief, told reporters on Wednesday morning that four of the five victims are Thai, while the rest is Cambodian, all are among 24 people injured in Monday's incident on Liab Khlong Hok Road in Pathum Thani One of the injured victims is a three-month pregnant woman who remains in an intensive care unit (ICU), while two other injured men have been recovering. The six-floor condominium building collapsed Monday evening and most injured people are migrant workers. Searches for victims under the rubble ended on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Engineering Institute of Thailand said it would conclude the cause of the collapse within seven days. Local police have issued arrest warrants against five people allegedly responsible for the tragic incident, including an engineer who supervised the construction of the building. (TNA)
