Vietnam Focusing on TPP Talks: Pres. Sang

Tokyo, March 17 (Jiji Press)--Visiting Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang said Monday that the country attaches importance to Trans-Pacific Partnership multilateral free trade negotiations. A TPP deal, if struck, would benefit the Asian economy, Sang, who is visiting Japan as a state guest, said at a business seminar cohosted by the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other entities. Vietnam and Japan are both among the 12 countries participating in the TPP negotiations. Sang praised Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's economic policy, saying that the Japanese leader breathed new life into the country's economy. Abe is also contributing to world prosperity and regional stability, Sang added. At a meeting with JCCI Chairman Akio Mimura earlier on Monday, Sang welcomed Japanese companies' moves into Vietnam, noting that the door to the country is always open. Mimura replied that more and more JCCI member companies are expected to enter Vietnam. Sang also held a meeting with executives of the Japan Business Federation, the country's top business lobby known as Keidanren. They agreed on cooperation to promote Japanese firms' investment in Vietnam and for the development of human resources. END
