Vietnamese Men Nabbed In Hardware Store Break-In Attempt

KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia) Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Police detained two Vietnamese men for allegedly trying to break into a hardware store in Bandar Permaisuri, Setiu early Wednesday. Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP Fazlisyam Abd Majid said the duo, aged 30 and 37, were picked up by the police about 1 am after a security guard of a nearby premises had alerted the authorities. “The witness initially saw a suspicious-looking red Proton Saga BLM car going in and out of the area. Upon inspection, he found out that three men were prying open the back door of the store before he contacted the police right away. “One the suspects was nabbed at the scene by a team of policemen on patrol duty, while the other fled on foot. He was then arrested about 1.5 kilometers away from the premises,” he told a press conference at the State Police Contingent headquarters here Wednesday. Fazlisyam said the third man managed to escape using the car, and that the police were now intensifying their search for the vehicle. Initial investigation revealed that the car was rented from a company in Kelantan, he said. Fazlisyam also said the policemen had earlier searched the vehicle and found what was believed to be a fake passport belonging to the third suspect. The case was being investigated under Sections 457 and 511 of the Penal Code, he added. -- BERNAMA
