VIP passengers evacuated from Nok Air’s aircraft due to door problem

BANGKOK, February 18 (TNA) - All passengers on board a Nok Air flight in Nan Province were asked to get off the aircraft on Wednesday after a door could not be closed properly. The Nok Air flight DD 8819 bound for Bangkok carried several important figures including president of the National Reform Council Thianchay Kiranandana, Privy Councilor Plakorn Suwannarat, PTT chairman Piyasvasti Amranand and Bank of Thailand governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul. The incident occurred at around 12 pm before the aircraft wast to leave for the capital. The public relations department of Nok Air said the airline had deployed a replacement aircraft to take the passengers from Nan. It said the replacement aircraft departed from the Don Mueang airport at 12.40pm. This was the second time this month such problem occurred to an aircraft of the budget airline. On February 6, a fully-booked Lampang-Bangkok Nok Air flight was also cancelled due to a door problem. (TNA)
