Water outflow from Kaeng Krachan dam will peak today

PHETCHABURI, Aug 10 (TNA) – Authorities have closely monitored the water situation in Phetchaburi as the Royal Irrigation Department predicts the water outflow from the Kaeng Krachan dam will peak today. The dam spillover remains high as the upstream areas of the dam have been flooded. About 50 houses, mostly homestays in Baan Phukhem village have been submerged under knee-deep water while the water level has risen to the rooftop in some areas. Villagers said it is the worst flood in 15 years. They said the flooding started at the beginning of August and it keeps rising. A villager said her house was totally flooded but she could move her belongings out of the house in time. Farmlands have been inundated and the water level reached half of durian tree trunks. (TNA)
