Western sanctions will not result in decline of Russia’s creditworthiness - Dagong head

BEIJING, June 25. /TASS/. The adverse impact of Western sanctions will not result in the decline of Russia’s creditworthiness, president of the leading Chinese rating agency Dagong Guan Jianzhong told TASS on Thursday. "We believe sanctions may not seriously affect creditworthiness of the Russian Government," Dagong chief said. "Sanctions off the West naturally entailed certain difficulties in the Russian economy but these difficulties are temporary. They will hardly last for long," he added. Dagong is not going to review the Russia’s sovereign rating. "No catastrophic trends appeared in the Russian economic situation; our expectations are fairly optimistic," Guan Jianzhong said. The agency plans to assign long-term credit ratings to several other Russian companies, Guan said. "We are currently working on that. Several Russian companies expect we will assign our ratings to them," Dagong chief said, refusing to disclose their names. Dagong agency was founded in 1994. All its ratings are recognized by the China’s Government. Read more
