Wildfires in Narathiwat contained

BANGKOK, May 7 (TNA) -- Wildfires that occurred in the southern province of Narathiwat have been contained and no effect took place on an electricity supplied by the state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), said EGAT deputy governor Suthon Boonprasong on Saturday. Mr Suthon said forest fires erupted Friday around an overhead high power transmission in the province and came under control early Saturday after EGAT officials plus concerned agencies and local residents helped doused the fire. EGAT would continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure that this incident would not affect the public, he said. On tropical storms that hit several northeastern provinces including Nakhon Ratchasima and Udon Thani, EGAT has dispatched its officials to prevent disruption of electricity supplied to the people.
