Winter approaches, int'l tourists visit Thai North

NORTHERN REGION, THAILAND, November 2 (TNA) - International tourists and those who love the cool winter season have been visiting Thailand's Upper North, increasingly, as temperatures there have been falling noticeably, while souvenir and fruit traders are doing brisk business. A number of international tourists have gone up to Doi Mon Jaem Mountain in Mae Rim District of Chiang Mai Province before dawns to view seas of fog drifting along mountain ranges and appreciate the beauty of a number of winter herbs, vegetables, flowers and fruits grown at a royal-initiated project. At Doi Tung in nearby Chiang Rai Province, temperatures have dropped to lower than 15 degrees Celsius in early mornings, attracting crowds of international tourists subsequently, as they want to stroll around the highland, where a stunning, beautiful garden was developed by Thailand's late Princess Mother. Winter flowers have also started blooming amid the delight of the visitors, both locals and foreigners. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast that a high pressure mass from China is expected to cover Thailand's upper part from November 3-5, 2013, causing more downpours in the lower part of the central and eastern regions, while temperatures in the Thai North and Northeast should further drop by 1-3 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
