Women rule Thai Commerce Ministry

BANGKOK, September 24 (TNA) - Women become commanders at Thailand's Ministry of Commerce in this year's reshuffle of government officials, as they take executive positions from the levels of the permanent secretary downwards, effective from October 1, 2013. According to Government Spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi, the Thai Cabinet approved at its weekly meeting on Tuesday the reshuffle list proposed by the Ministry of Commerce. Consequently, Srirat Rastapana, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, will be the new permanent secretary for commerce; Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Commerce, will be the director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion; Piramol Charoenpal, Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations, will be a deputy permanent secretary for commerce and Urawee Ngowroongrueng will be a deputy permanent secretary for commerce. Pongpun Gearaviriyapun will be the director-general of the Department of Business Development and Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, will be the Thai ambassador and permanent representative to the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (WTO).
