Work to put cables underground delayed

BANGKOK, July 16 (TNA) - The deadline to put communication cables underground in the historic part of the capital has been delayed until the middle of August due to some paperwork errors. Deputy Governor of Bangkok Chakkapan Phewngam said the deadline was changed from July 16 to August 15 following some mistakes in documents issued by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for companies, responsible for the work. The original documents indicated that the companies were required to remove the cables off the poles but failed to mention those owned by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA). Chakkapan said BMA will submit a letter to the MEA and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission on Monday, so they can subsequently collaborate with the private sector to move the remaining cables from the MEA poles by the deadline.
