Works Ministry holds workshop on traffic safety

Manama, June 25 (BNA): The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, represented by the Roads Sector, organized a workshop titled ‘Training Program in Traffic Safety’, in coordination with The European Union Road Federation and Ameeri Industries. 25 staff participated in the workshop. The workshop was initiated with a note from the Roads Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Huda Fakhro, where she welcomed the attendees and commended ERF’s gesture in organizing the workshop on traffic safety. ERF’s General Manager Kristoff Nikodelmi delivered a note; welcoming the attendees and praising the Road’s strategic objectives in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Later, ERF’s Researches, Communications & Public and Communicative Affairs Director Joseh Diaz highlighted ERF’s objectives and mission. He also shed light on road safety in Europe and Europe’s approach to infrastructure safety and approved regulations in this field. The first day of the workshop highlighted traffic safety measures and the latest studies and researches in the field, in addition to addressing Europe’s Accredited Standard used in determining traffic barriers specifications and those of bridges. Reference was also made to pedestrian barriers and means of protecting bikers. The second day of the workshop addressed signage standards, where experts explained that ground markings are very important to traffic safety; due to the cheapness and availability of such tools. The workshop also highlighted traffic diversion design and displayed a number of European models in this field.
