World University Professors and Islamic Awakening confab opens in Tehran

Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA – The World University Professors and Islamic Awakening Conference kicked off in Tehran on Monday. The two-day conference was opened with the inaugural speech of Secretary General of Iran's World Assembly of Islamic Awakening and the senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Ali Akbar Velayati. He stressed that the triumph of Gaza in war against the Zionist regime is considered as a great achievement of the Islamic Awakening. The new wave of the Islamic Awakening that began in 2010 with the uprising of the Tunisian people and quickly spread to the rest of the Middle East and North Africa region is now approaching a crucial and sensitive juncture, Velayati reiterated. Some 350 Iranian and 250 foreign scholars and university professors from 70 countries are attending the event the theme of which is promotion of justice and religious democracy throughout the globe. A number of top Iranian political and cultural figures are also participating in the event. end
