Would-be mothers get more allowance in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 26 (TNA) - In an attempt to assist needy families, the government of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has decided to pay 400 baht monthly to babies born from this October 1 until September 30 next year, aimed at giving the babies better healthcare access. Deputy spokesperson at the Prime Minister’s Office Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said up to 600 million baht had been allocated for the new program, and would-be parents could start registering from September 1 to be entitled for the allowance. According to Major General Sansern, the prime minister had thanked concerned government officials, especially the Public Health Ministry officials who would be providing frontline services for the mothers and their newborns under the program.
