YALA, May 20 (TNA) -- Thai Buddhist devouts in the southern province of Yala have participated in a daylight candle-lit procession to pay respect to the Lord Buddha and to mark the annaul Visakha Bucha day. Crowds of Buddhists had gathered at the Wat Weruwan monastery in Sateng subdistrict, Yala provincial seat at around 11am this morning to join in with the auspicious ceremony, which was presided over by Yala Governor Doladej Pattanarat. Before the circumambulation around the monastery with candles, the temple's abbot had given lecture on the importance of Buddhism and Visakha Bucha day, as well as encouraged the public to uphold the teachings on Lord Buddha. The candle-lit procession to celebrate this year's Visakha Bucha is scheduled to be held at 17 temples within Yala's provincial seat, where only two temples of Wat Weruwan and Wat Lak Ha are set to organised the circumambulation ceremony during the day time to provide more safety and security for the public.
