Yingluck Urges Abhisit Not To Set Conditions For National Solution

BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) – Thailand’s caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra suggests that Democrat Party leader and former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva should not set any condition for national solutions. In response to Mr Abhisit’s proposal to take a break from politics if other parties accept his national solutions, Ms Yingluck said that Mr Abhisit and his Democrat Party should not set a condition and she believed that the society was looking forward to a way out of the political deadlock of the country. She also said that she would wait to listen to Mr Abhisit’s proposals in two days and if they were practical and reasonable to all parties, she believed that they would accept the proposals. Ms Yingluck also urged anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban to also listen to proposals and enter into negotiation. She said that his protests in the past six months were useless. Mr Suthep, the former Democrat who is the secretary-general of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, earlier announced he would not negotiate with any party but would demand national reform before election. Ms Yingluck also said that she was happy that the Election Commission set the new general election on July 20 and her government agreed with the commission to adjust some regulations to ensure a fair election. Mr Abhsit said that if all parties agree with his reform ideas, he will neither run in the new general election nor receive any political position to prove his sincerity. He plans to introduce his ideas within this Saturday. (TNA)
