Young couple’s killer confesses

BANGKOK, Aug 22 (TNA) – After being expatriated from Cambodia last night, Panya Yingdung, a nightclub owner in Phuket, confessed with the national police chief that he killed a young couple in Chon Buri province late last month. The man was brought to the Royal Thai Police Office to meet national police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda. He had fled to the neighbouring country after shooting Anantachai Jitram, 21, and Paweena Namuangrak, 20, in a parking lot at the Buddha Mountain in Chon Buri on July 29. Pol Gen Chakthip questioned Mr Panya, also known as Sia Uan, for 30 minutes and checked the guns used in the murder. Police from the Nang Jomtien station in Chon Buri showed the firearms and six vehicles used in the crime at the police headquarters. Pol Gen Chakthip told reporters that Mr Panya admitted to the murder. The police chief did not elaborate on the motive, saying the information would otherwise affect ongoing investigation. Initially Mr Panya was charged with premeditated murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and illegal possession of the guns and bullets in public place. There are nine suspects in the case and all of them were arrested. (TNA)
