Youngsters urged to enjoy Valentine’s Day in proper ways

BANGKOK, February 14 (TNA) - As the birth rate in Thailand among girls with aged lower than 20 is the second highest among members countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), after Laos, the Ministry of Public Health has issued directives for Thai youngsters to follow on the Valentine’s Day, which falls on February 14. Public Health Ministry Spokeswoman Dr. Punpimol Vipulakorn told journalists on Saturday (Feb 14) that official statistics released by the UN World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2011 showed that the birth rate among young Thai girls was ranked second, after Laos, in ASEAN, while a research conducted in Thailand showed that Thai youngsters now have their first sex at age between 15–16, compared to 18–19 a few years ago. Urging the teenagers to love cleverly and in a proper way on the Valentine’s Day, Dr. Punpimol said gambling also lures teenagers to become alcoholic, love to use violence and weapons, while chances of committing suicide are also high due to depression. Dr. Punpimol urged male youngsters to stick to five technical methods, including stop thinking of having sex with their young companions, not desert from morality, not to forget negative consequences such as abortion, stay away from being a night owl and always wear a condom when unable to avoid having sex. Dr. Punpimol also advised female teenagers to be extremely careful in their reactions which may misunderstand their young boyfriends, not to trust their boyfriends too easily, stay inside houses after 10pm, do not consume alcohol or porn films and understand the importance of Valentine’s Day in an accurate way.
