Youth, Sports Minister Participates in FIA General Assembly's Closing Session

Doha, December 05 (QNA) - HE Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali took part Friday in the closing session of the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) World Motor Sport Council 2014, which was held in Doha over five days with the participation of 163 clubs and federations. HE the minister opened the session in the presence of FIA President Jean Todt and Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation (QMMF) President Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, who is also vice president of FIA. In his address, Al Ali welcomed participants and wished them success in their visions for the development of the sport all over the world and thanked them for accepting the call to come to Doha to take part in the global event. For his part, Al Attiyah commended the presence of HE Al Ali, which, he added, reflects state officials' interest in the motor sport. Al Attiyah stressed that HE the minister is always keen on supporting Qatari sport and backing it on all fronts. In turn, Todt welcomed the audience and thanked QMMF and its president for the hospitality and professionalism in organizing the FIA's general assembly despite the fact that it is taking place for the first time in Doha and the Middle East. The event's agenda was ratified in the closing session and FIA's administrative report was reviewed as well as reports of the different committees. The session also discussed the recent financial report and endorsed the future budget, in addition to proposing some amendments to law and regulations and ratifying them. Participant delegations expressed their deep gratitude to Qatar and QMMF and its president for the excellent organization and hospitality throughout the five-day event. (QNA)
