Zarif Urges UNESCO To Promote Human Privacy, Cultural Heritage

Tehran, Sept 7, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday urged the international organizations, especially the UNESCO to help safeguard human privacy, their religious beliefs and protect historic monuments in war-stricken, disaster-prone and terrorist-controlled areas. He made the remarks in a meeting with the new head of UNESCO Office in Tehran and its envoy in Iran and Turkmenistan, Esther Kuisch-Laroche, who presented her credentials to Zarif. Referring to UNESCOˈs activities in educational, scientific and cultural fields, Zarif underlined Iranˈs resolve to help promote mutual cooperation in the areas of UNESCO interest at bilateral, regional and international levels. Extremism and violence are among major challenges facing the word, he said, calling for international organizationsˈ attention to secure human privacy, their religious beliefs and protect historic monuments in war-stricken, disaster-prone and terrorist-controlled areas. Kuisch-Laroche, for her part, referred to good cooperation between Iran and UNESCO, hoping that the cooperation would serve the common goals./end
