Zebari, Kerry Discuss Security, Military And political Developments In Iraq And The Region

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari discussed with his American counterpart, John Kerry developments in the security, military and political situation in Iraq and the region. A statement for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry cited that "Zebari received a phone call from Kerry, through which he stressed to sustain communication, consultation and meetings in order to form an international and regional coalition to defeat terrorism and extremism, adding that the phone call also saw the exchange of opinion on the efforts and talks on forming a new government within the constitutional deadlines. Kerry, according to the statement, confirmed "his country's keenness on completion of the political transition process and the formation of the government in the near future to mobilize the largest amount of international cooperation for Iraq to defeat the Islamic State, especially after the terrorist has become a global threat and dangerous to international peace and security. For his part, Zebari said , "The constructive military and security cooperation has proved its worth in stopping the expansion of the terrorists of the (IS) and inflict them heavy losses, asking Kerry to deepen security and military cooperation between Iraq and the United States for the security and stability of Iraq and the region and the world. / End
