Iran’s Azarang wins gold in Kurash at Hangzhou Asian Games
Hangzhou, IRNA – Iranian kurash wrestler Sadegh Azarang has clinched a gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games to become the fourth Iranian to snatch the gold in the event.
Azarang triumphed over his South Korean adversary in the final round of the men's -90kg.
In the semi-final, Azarang faced off against Atayev from Armenia and emerged victorious. Before that, he had defeated Kumar Chauhan from India and advanced to the semi-final stage.
The 2022 Asian Games, also known as Hangzhou 2022, is a major continental multi-sport event taking place from 23 September to 8 October 2023 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. Iran has sent a contingent of 289 male and female athletes participating in 34 sports divisions to the Games.
