Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan plan to open trading houses in Bishkek and Tashkent

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2023. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, in order to build up trade potential, will provide maximum assistance in opening trading houses in Bishkek and Tashkent. This decision was made during the 10th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in Cholpon-Ata town of Issyk-Kul region.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that at the same time, the Uzbek side noted its readiness to facilitate the participation of Kyrgyzstan in the Termez International Trade Center project, which is both a shopping complex and a free trade zone.

Due to its location, the Termez International Center provides an opportunity to increase the volume and intensity of foreign trade not only with the Republic of Uzbekistan, but also with the countries of Central and South Asia (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran with access to seaports).

In order to strengthen and implement the tasks, a joint project is being implemented to organize the assembly of automotive and commercial vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The implementation of this project was supported at a high level, as evidenced by the signed Agreement between the governments of the two countries, as part of the state visit of the president of Uzbekistan to the Kyrgyz Republic in January 2023.

Taking into account the commissioning in September this year of the plant, the Kyrgyz side confirmed the adoption of the relevant government decision to provide previously agreed preferences and a simplified certification procedure in accordance with the legislation of the Parties and accepted international obligations, as part of the implementation of the project for the production of cars and commercial vehicles in the Chui region.

At the same time, the Parties reached an agreement on the supply to the Kyrgyz Republic of a test batch of tractors (TAT 90) produced in Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Economic Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uztekstilprom Association will consider the possibility of creating joint textile clusters for the production of finished products with high added value and its further export to the markets of third countries.
