Kyrgyzstan prepares to start construction of first solar power plant

Bishkek, July 4, 2023 . / Kabar / . Construction of Kyrgyzstan's first solar power plant, Kun Bulagy, is already preparing to begin, the National Investment Agency said.

As of today, the procedures for concluding contracts with LSG bodies are being finalized and issues of supplying equipment are being resolved. The facility will be erected on the territory of Issyk-Kul region of Issyk-Kul Oblast and will occupy an area of 80 hectares.

To date, the investor has developed a feasibility study of the project and obtained preliminary technical conditions from the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan.

"The National Agency is preparing to sign an investment agreement with Kun Bulagy LLC, with which a memorandum was concluded earlier. The total volume of investments in the project is more than $35 million. The project is implemented by Kun-Bulagy together with the Kazakh company TGS-Energy Limited, which has acted as an investor in a number of projects in the field of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan (construction of SES Kengir, SES Balkhash, SES Kapchagai, etc.), the report said.
