3-month art festival of cultural diversity kicks off in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2021. / Kabar /. A 3-month art festival of cultural diversity "Mixture" has started in Kyrgyzstan, the Soros-Kyrgyzstan Foundation reported. Since the beginning of October, within the framework of the Arts and Culture program, the partners of the Soros-Kyrgyzstan Foundation have been launching a series of cultural events in different directions and formats. The main goal of the Mixtura festival is to draw public attention to the problem of the disappearance of cultural diversity that has arisen in Kyrgyzstan over the past decade, and to promote the idea of preserving the diversity of art of the country's peoples. Within 3 months, 14 events will be held in Bishkek, including performances, museums, DJ sets, exhibitions, open lectures, shows and musical performances. The study “Points of Cultural Modernization” conducted by the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan in early 2021 showed that there are several main problems in the development of culture in Kyrgyzstan, including the gradual fading of the practices of the cultural wealth of the country's peoples, the lack of modern practices for managing diversity among the key cultural figures and a lack of dialogue about culture and art in society, the Foundation said. The partners of "Mixture", acting as the main organizers of the events, express hope that the festival will be the beginning of attracting the public to the world of art and popularizing the idea of preserving and developing cultural diversity in Kyrgyzstan.
