Ankara hosts event on occasion of Aitmatov's birthday

Bishkek, Dec. 13, 2021. / Kabar /. An event dedicated to the memory of the outstanding writer, thinker and diplomat Chingiz Aitmatov was held in Ankara on Dec. 12, on the occasion of his birthday in the park of the same name, where the monument to the writer is located, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported. The event was attended by Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Mayor of Kechioren Municipality Turgut Altynok, Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Bilal Chakyzhy, representatives of diplomatic missions in Ankara, students, media representatives, as well as compatriots living in Turkey. Omuraliev and Altynok made a welcoming speech, who noted that Chingiz Aitmatov, being one of the most widely read authors of our time, made an invaluable contribution to the development of Kyrgyz, Turkic and world literature. As part of the event, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the writer.
