ARSLAN RINCHIN AWARDED SASAKAWA HEALTH PRIZE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Scientist from Mongolia Arslan Rinchin has been awarded the Sasakawa Health Prize according to a decision of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO). Mongolian Minister of Health A.Tsogtsetseg accepted the award, on behalf of R.Arslan, during the 70th World Health Assembly. While extending gratitude on behalf of the Government of Mongolia and the Ministry of Health for granting this prize to a Mongolian, A.Tsogtsetseg also conveyed the gratitude of R.Arslan, who was not present during the award ceremony, to the Director-General of WHO, Dr Margaret Chan, WHO Goodwill Ambassador and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Dr Bloomberg, Dr Okochi and colleagues from Mongolia and Hungary who worked alongside with the laureate. R.Arslan has made a huge contribution to the development of Mongolia’s health sector, by successullly conducting vaccination and epidemics studies for Hepatitis B. His studies have become cornerstones for Mongolia introducing to vaccination of Hepatitis B. Ms Margaret Chan highlighted applauded Mongolia’s efforts, which has been leading the world in fighting against liver diseases. B.Amarsaikhan
