Bishkek, Sept. 14, 2018. / Kabar /. Bishkek hosts the 4th meeting of the TURKPA ( Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries ) Commission on Environment and Natural Resources. The spread of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and their impact is the main topic on the agenda of the commission meeting, attended by MPs from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Environment and Natural Resources, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ahliman Amiraslanov in his speech stressed the importance of holding a Seminar earlier in Istanbul on the topic "Legislation and practice in the field of GMOs", where the participants were informed in detail by experts on the situation and works in this field. He also stressed that the TURKPA countries are rich in flora and vegetation diversity, where the ancestors of agricultural crops also prevail, therefore, every effort should be made to preserve the rich biodiversity by improving national legislative systems and extracting benefits from scientific achievements, taking into account the minimum risk. It is extremely important for the commission to hold a session on this issue in order to study the current situation, analyze existing gaps in legislation and disseminate positive experience among the participating countries
