Cabinet of Ministers discuss issues of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said. Akylbek Zhaparov stressed that our country attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of interstate relations and multifaceted cooperation with the People's Republic of China, noting that next year the countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. “Over the years, thanks to mutual efforts, the countries have built and maintain good-neighborly, friendly, trusting relations. Our cooperation is characterized by stable partnership and mutual support on all issues that meet the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries,” he said. He expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Chinese government during the difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as for providing support in ensuring food security. Akylbek Zhaparov stressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in the implementation of joint investment and infrastructure projects, in the development of mutual trade. The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed the importance of the implementation of the project on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which is strategic for us and will allow the republic to become a transit country. Akylbek Zhaparov also noted the need to further intensify cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road doctrine. Special Representative of the Government of the People's Republic of China for Eurasia Li Hui, in turn, noted that the two countries have a high level of bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation. “The People's Republic of China will continue to be a trusting and reliable neighbor and partner for the Kyrgyz Republic. We are also interested in continuing to expand bilateral cooperation,” he said. Li Hui also noted that the high level of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations makes an important contribution to ensuring the security of the region as a whole. During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of trade and economic cooperation, including increasing the volume of cargo traffic at the Kyrgyz-Chinese checkpoints.
