Cambodian Fisherman Drowns In Waters Off Teluk Bahang

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia) Aug 8 (Bernama) -- A Cambodian fisherman drowned after falling overboard while his trawler was laying its net about 25 nautical miles of Teluk Bahang on the island early Wednesday. Barat Daya district police chief Supt A.A Anbalagan said in the 1am incident, Chon Choey, 30, could not save himself because his hands and legs were entangled in the net. He said the skipper immediately switched off the engine and despite two crew members diving in and freeing him and bring him up and giving him CPR, they could not save him. The victim’s body was sent to the Balik Pulau hospital for post-mortem and thereafter claimed by his family and sent back to Cambodia. -- BERNAMA
