DISCUSSION TO RUN ON GOBI BEAR PROTECTION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ This June 17, the World Day to Combat Desertification will be celebrated here under a theme of "Desertification and Mazaalai (Gobi bear)". Targeted at perfection of the "Mazaalai bear conservation program" and opinion-sharing about saving of the endangered animal from going extinct, the event will take place in the conference hall of the United Nations (UN) Resident Representative Office, under collaboration of the Ministry of Environment and Green Development and the UN Development Program in Mongolia. In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 17 the "World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought" to promote public awareness of the issue. The implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in those countries experiencing serious drought and/or desertification, particularly in Africa. Mongolia has been observing the Day since 2007.
