Dr Fadi's Remains To Be Taken To Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR April 23 (Bernama) -- The remains of Dr Fadi Mohammed Al Batsh, who was gunned down in Setapak early Saturday, will be repatriated to Gaza, in Palestine, as requested by the family. Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Anwar H. Al Agha (centre) said the embassy had received clear orders from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to take care of everything, including his family's passage back to Gaza. "The process to send back the remains has already started, but it would probably take some time as the autopsy process is still on. “Also, we have to discuss with the government of Egypt since we will be taking the body from Cairo to Gaza. It’s not an easy job, but we have to obey and respect the rule and regulations of each country involved,” he said when met after visiting the Hospital Selayang mortuary here Sunday. Anwar is confident that the Malaysian side would cooperate in this endeavour and that Fadi's younger brother, who is expected to arrive later today via Germany, would also help in the repatriation process. Fadi, a lecturer in electrical engineering with a private institution here, was gunned down outside Idaman Puteri condominium in Setapak while walking to Surau Medan Idaman to lead the subuh prayer about 6am Saturday. Two gunmen were said to have waited for him on their motorcycle and fired 10 shots at the 35-year-old victim. Meanwhile, Fadi's younger brother, Dr. Rami Al Batsh said his family in Gaza had accepted the former's death. Rami, 31, who spoke with the help of an interpreter, said the process to handle the remains of his brother would be done Monday. "I and my other family members in Gaza need to persevere, and continue with our lives," he said when met by reporters at the hospital. Rami, accompanied by 15 of his friends, arrived in Malaysia at 3 pm, on a flight from Germany. (photoBERNAMA) — BERNAMA
