Far East Street at Eastern Economic Forum to present Russian regions

TASS, August 18. A key cultural event of the annual Eastern Economic Forum is the Far East Street exhibitioin. All the nine regions of the Far East Federal District will open their pavilions to demonstrate how they are different from the others, and what attracts businesses and tourists there. Guests of the Forum in 2017, which is due on September 6 and 7, will learn about life in regions of the Russian Arctic, and about legends and tales of Eskimos and Chukcha. New in the Forum The Far East Street every year attracts thousands spectators - the Forum attendees. In previous years, the exhibition pavilions worked only on the days of the event, and this year the organizers decided to extend the exhibition's term, press service of the Ministry for Development of the Far East said. "This year, the Street will be on not for three days, but for almost a week - on September 5-10," the ministry said. "Between September 5 and 7, the exhibition will be open for the Forum attendees, and then it will be for all other visitors." For the first time ever, one of the days will be devoted to participation of the youth in development of the Far East. "On September 9, school students from the Maritime territory will come to the exhibition, and in every pavilion will shall organize for them events in professions and skills, various training programs, and presentations of the Far East regions," Elena Kharisova of the Far East Federal University told TASS. Arctic zone at the Forum The Chukotka Autonomous District will make a pavilion in a shape of a bowhead whale on one-to-one scale, the ministry's press service said. "There, the guests will learn legends and tales of the Eskimos and Chukchi, which tell about the relative relations between Chukotka's indigenous people and the marine mammal," the ministry said. "Next to the pavilion, they will install a monument to kayur (dog drover) and his dogs." The exposition will also demonstrate sculptures of reindeer and the tents, repeating style of those figures used by the indigenous peoples. Inside the tents visitors will see how the indigenous peoples worked with walrus and whale bones to make household items. In 2016, Chukotka has its pavilion at a "reception of polar bear," which was announced one of the best presentation zones of the Far East Street. Yakutia's pavilion in 2017 will be organized in summer tents of the republic's indigenous people - Uras, the region's official Vladimir Vasilyev told TASS. "Yakutia's exposition will be decorated in the style of Yakutia's winter and frost, and the main urasa (tent) will be in the form of the Chyyskhan - a fairy character - the Cold Keeper, and inside the tent would be a negotiations area with an interactive table, where Yakutia's investment projects will be presented, as well as a photo area and a tourist stand," he said. The region will also present the year-round greenhouse in the Kangalassy advance-development territory and the high-tech Zhatai shipyard. Visitors will see Yakutia's main attractions - the UNESCO heritage, the Buluus ice which never melts, and the Tukulan sand dunes. Local experts will invite the event attendees to take classes in playing khomus (a folk instrument), to listen to music of ethnic groups and to attend a concert of the republic's orchestra. Island-Fish, Snowstorm and Lotus Kamchatka's main exposition in 2017, unlike in the previous years, will be devoted not to volcanos or geysers, but to the peninsulas other attractions - winter sports. "The rich tourist and investment potential of the winter sports and recreations in Kamchatka will be the main topic of the stand," press service of the region's government said. "Kamchatka's historical heritage will be reflected in the big reconstruction of national tents and the tents of first conquerors. Inside the Snowstorm pavilion we shall imitate a real storm." Government of the Sakhalin region will organize the presentation inside a huge salmon pavilion. It will host the Island-Fish exposition to symbolize the rich and unique natural resources of Sakhalin and Kuril. "The size of the 'fish' is impressive: from 'head' to 'tail' it will be 20 meters and 10 meters wide," the press service said. "The height will be to eight meters. We shall organize colorful lights for the pavilion." The guests will be invited to use the virtual door to learn more about Sakhalin. Visitors will have a direct video line with Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (island's capital) to talk to the locals or to have a portrait from a local artist, or to learn the region's history - the technology may bring the visitor right inside the local history museum. The Maritime territory will make a focus on the region's history. The exposition will be inside the Lutus pavilion. "The exhibition's base would be a detailed replica of the Vladivostok Citadel - a mighty maritime citadel," press service of the region's administration said. The territory's other pavilion, called Sikhote-Alin (a mountain range - TASS), will demonstrate the region's modern exposition of the economic and social potential. Gold and Aviation A most "golden" region in the Far East is the Magadan region, which will present itself in a form of a gold bullion. "The pavilion will focus on presentation of the gold-producing sector," the regional government's press service said. "We shall install there a showcase with replicas of biggest gold nuggets." Besides, the region will invite visitors to embroider using reindeer hair, wick nettle and learn beading and bone cut. The Khabarovsk territory will devote its presentation to aircraft construction. Visitors will try designing new models and will also take home souvenirs. "We shall present an "office of aircraft designer," where guests will be invited to make souvenirs using real technologies which are used in aircraft building," the region said. "We shall also offer a tour of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 plane, which is produced in the Khabarovsk territory." Tourism at Forum Traditionally, the Eastern Economic Forum will pay special attention to development of tourism and to tourist potential of the Far Eastern regions. Every pavilion will present popular tourist destinations and attractions. "The Kuldur resort will make its presentation. And one of the tourist projects is the Khigansk Path eco-route," press service of the Jewish Autonomous District's government said. "A hill of pink marble, caves, a botanical monument Bidzhansk Nudity, fish plants and the regional resorts..." The Amur region will present achievements in the space industry. "In the light-box devoted to the Vostochny launch facility we shall present space food, and visitors may 'go to the space' in the VR interactive zone," the region said. Cuisine Delights of Russian East In 2017, Far East Street at the Eastern Economic Forum will invite guests to the "Fish Market" to order Far Eastern traditional and original dishes. The regions will present their best products. "Professional cooks from seven Far Eastern districts will demonstrate unique skills and will make the most delicious dishes for the guests," the Russian Ministry of the Far East Development said. "The fish market will offer the formats of tastes, street-food and restaurants. Every chalet will be devoted to one Far Eastern region, showing its specific features - what fish and sea products they offer and produce." In 2016, the fish market was very popular among the Forum guests. Some regions prepare surprises for gourmands. Kamchatka will offer fresh juice from greenhouse vegetables. "We shall make a replica of a year-round greenhouse, which we have in Kamchatka, and which produces cucumbers and tomatoes. The guests will try cucumber fresh and lemonade," Kamchatka's press service said. The Maritime territory will offer specially made alcohol-free cocktails of wild berries, candies with agar-agar, chocolate with sea salt and alga. Eastern Economic Forum 2017 The third Eastern Economic Forum will take place in Vladivostok on September 6-7. The forum is the biggest international communication platform for cooperation between businesses, political and expert communities from Russia, the Pacific Region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The event organizers report confirmations received from 24 delegations, including representatives of China, Japan, Australian, Canada and the US, as well as European countries like the UK, Germany and others. In 2016, the Forum gathered 3,500 participants, who presented 111 projects worth total investments of 2.2 trillion rubles ($37 billion). The forum's delegations signed 216 agreements worth 1.85 trillion rubles ($31 billion). TASS is the event’s general information partner and moderator of the investment projects’ presentation zone.
