Festival of Films from Kyrgyzstan held in India

Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2021 . / Kabar / . On Oct. 6-7, 2021 India hosted a Festival of Films from Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Kyrgyz Embassy in India reported. The event was organized by the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in India with the assistance of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, Marwah Studios, as well as the Asian Academy of Film and Television, which is now among the top ten film schools in the world. Ambassadors, representatives of the diplomatic corps in New Delhi, cultural attachés, representatives of the film industry, media circles and media in India were the guests of honor at the opening ceremony of the film festival. "In his welcoming speech, Kyrgyzstan’s Ambassador to India Asein Isayev noted that the phenomenon of the Kyrgyz miracle of national cinematography appeared thanks to such directors as Tolomush Okeyev, Bolot Shamshiyev, Gennady Bazarov and others. A key role in this was played by Chyngyz Aitmatov, who headed the Union of Cinematographers in the 1960s-1970s. Films based on his works were made that have entered the golden fund of world cinema", the report says. The ambassador also noted that Kyrgyz cinema is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. In the framework of the festival, the audience watch the classic film Mother Field based on the work of Aitmatov, as well as feature films of the new generation of Kyrgyz filmmakers Kurmanjan Datka and Song of the Tree. An agreement was reached to hold a series of events aimed at the cultural rapprochement between the two countries. In addition, as part of the Festival, the Embassy organized a photo exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.
