Film by Kyrgyz director nominated for Tampere Film Festival award

A documentary film of Kyrgyz director Adilet Karzhoev Black Wagon included in the list of applicants for the award of the international Tampere Film Festival short film festival, the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan said. The festival will be held in the Finnish city of Tampere on March 9-13 this year and is one of the three most important short film events in the world. This year, 6,912 films are submitted for the international competition, which is an absolute record. As a result, 64 short films from 43 countries were selected. The Foundation reported that Black Wagon by Adilet Karzhoev, for which screening at the festival will be the world premiere, was the only documentary film from Kyrgyzstan presented in the competition program of the show. The Kyrgyz director's competing film tells the story of a team of miners digging coal 500 meters underground. The team's task is to meet their daily plan, but with each strike of the pick, it becomes harder and harder to reach the coal in the safe zone. A foreman decides to take the risk and dig coal in the danger zone.
