Flashmob on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Chyngyz Aitmatov in Russia

Bishkek, Aug. 16, 2018. /Kabar/. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) initiated a flashmob on the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of Kyrgyz author, canonical writer of world literature Chyngyz Aitmatov, official representative of the Russian MFA Maria Zakharova told at a briefing on Wednesday. “Paying tribute to the memory of the prominent writer, we invite you to participate in the flashmob in Russian #читаемАйтматова and multilanguage project #readAitmatov throughout 2018,” the diplomat said, proposing to quote favorite passages from the author’s works, and then post them in social media using these hashtags. She said that the flashmob should become an important and effective way of drawing attention of the younger generation in the post-Soviet space and other countries of the world on Aitmatov’s creations, according to TASS. At the initiative of the International Organization of Turkic Culture, 2018 has been declared as the Year of Aitmatov. Aitmatov’s works have been translated into 176 languages of the world, his works are spread throughout 126 states. According to Zakharova, Aitmatov’s figure has uniting, symbolic significance for the ministry because of his active work in the diplomatic field. Thus, starting from 1990 the writer headed the Embassy of USSR in Luxemburg, then in 1994 and 2006 was representing Kyrgyzstan in the BENELUX countries.
